And speaking of country. How about Grayson truly embracing it's heritage and going back to cowboy boots, spurs, hat and a side-shooter, a holster with pulser.

The women carrying hidden pulser dillingers and vibro blades. Now that's a plot!

 they don't?! Then what do they look like?

Well-tailored suits, replete with the torture devices known as "neckties." I'm going with the Flag in Exile cover, here (my favorite cover!)

Montanans are the space cowboys.

O, I'll be a-borrowing that!

Geographically, I'm from the American Midwest.

Fannishly, I cut my eyeteeth in Tamora Pierce for a year or so, then at fourteen jumped into the (very scary for fourteen-year-old me!) Harry Potter fan community. This was just after the release of Order of the Phoenix, so things were still very hairy in there. I spent a few years there, then the 2009 Star Trek film (which I loved, so don't start) came out, and I joined in the madness there on LiveJournal. (I'm pretty sure "oh, my sweet summer child" comes from the LJ days.) After the furor from ST died down was when I really started getting into SF - I'd previously been more interested in fantasy - and I started watching Stargate, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, etc. This is also when I discovered HH, interestingly enough. Then LJ pretty much died when everyone jummped ship for Tumblr - I held out for awhile, but eventually made the switch as well, and that's where I am now.

Didn't expect that when you asked, did you?

I did not. Pleasantly surprising though. Gees, talk about young. Do enjoy overseas. We won't lose you...right?

This is the last I will hear about this Tamora Pierce without investigating further. She's quite popular.

Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense

As far as I am aware, Cthia, Scotland does in fact have functional internet.  So no, I won't be going anywhere. Posting a bit less frequently, perhaps - aaaahhh, the glories of going back to school - but definitely not going anywhere. Who else would understand my glee when Augustus and Estelle or Sonja and Shannon or Lester and Michelle or Michael and Abigail get together at last?? :P

Do! She's a wonderful YA writer and probably the first formative fiction writer (...say that five times fast!) of my childhood.

Scotland 'eh? Lucky lucky lucky. But sure thing, if Scotland is like most of Europe you won't have any trouble finding internet time, even if your computer crashes. Internet cafes are as common as coffee shops there. But I was referring to the time difference limiting your posts, or relegating you to posting in absentia (when we are all asleep). But a quick check of the time diff...you will only be five hrs ahead. Nothing, compared to the seven or more, of my friends in Romania and other places. They're in the bed now.

But does she wear cowboy hats jeans boots etc... I live in what is commonly called Cow Town and the surrounding area and there are the country bumpkins who do wear all of this, minus the six shooters. They drive pickup trucks, and either work farms/ ranches, oil, or construction. Think Texas without guns, anymore. 30 years ago they all had guns in racks over the back windows, but they cut down on that now.

Lots of people do still wear cowboy hats especially with suits. And everything else. Including swim suits.

Men and Women.
