HMS Ultraviolet, the brainchild of the Ultimate Verboten thread, is finally being launched, or rather it would if there wasn't a leak in its top secret, highly innovative system for energy generation.
Coincidentally at the same time the manticoran navy's space station where the ship is docked is overwhelmed by hords of hamsters. -------------

The MA made a mistake with the development of the spider drive, and it only works as predicted up to a certain size of ship.
When they take the first completed LD out for its shake down cruise it blows up as it brings the spider drive on line, years of research, development and construction wasted, not to mention the money spent. .

The first officer on the ship which blew up the Harvest joy suffers the affliction known as a conscience (which the MAlign was unable to delete) waits until the Captain is unconscious, then faks an order and takes his ship through the Torch wormhole and turns his data over to the RTN.

Aldona or Kyrillos survives. Not going to happen. Those two would be dog meat, if that wasn't cruelty to dogs. So they're worm food or scattered molecules, depending on the method that results in their DOA end point.
