For some reason Paul Tankersley's line to Honor of having to explain the plumbing to Nimitz regarding his space suit popped into my head. Question...

Isn't the average spacer subject to the same discomfort, or are their space suits more... agreeable?

I seem to recall that even Honorverse skinsuits aren't the most comfortable to hook up the plumbing on. You need a water-tight connection on the front and something on the rear. Didn't NASA just put out a request for idea for dealing with solid waste in a spacesuit that's better Than the adult diapers you'd need now.

However humans can understand why they're putting themselves through the temporary discomfort of hooking up the plumbing - a treecar not so much.

No as space suit technology is likely very mature one in Honorverse civilian space suits are likely not that much different then the ones the military uses.

Has there been any mention of any sort of emergency space suits?

Yes, Big Bulky things sort of your own personal rescue pod. When Michelle 's flag ship was damaged and she evacuated just before the Havenites blew it into space dust.

Interesting Jonathan. I'd be more apt to believe that the treecats would have no problem understanding that no one wants to wallow in his own mire or shit where they lay.

What I think Tankersley meant by the retort, is that the treecats would be gobsmacked that with all of the human technology they've witnessed, the only solution in this instance that the two-legs could come up with is to skewer oneself.

Everyone underestimates the treecat's inate sense of humor. But I Think it was more anthropomorphism, imagining Honor unceremoniously grabbing him by the Johnson and sticking a catheter up it ...

Now that may be a little too much fleshing out of the details for my comfort. And just might prove to be an unceremonious bond breaker for Nimitz!

Ouch! I was too affixed to the other end of the problem!

I think that covers pretty much my reaction to the idea of the plumbing connections in a skinsuit.

Military personnel and people who spend a lot of time doing zero gee work could have the Honorverse equivalent of a dialysis shunt or nano colostomy.
