Given To End in Fire ends with huge sequel hook, are there any known plans for next book in "present day" Honorverse?
I know about "A New Clan" in Stephanie Harrington series, and "A Call to Insurrection" in Travis Long series, but I was not able to find information bout planned books in the main / spies / Talbott Cluster series. In the same vein, are there any known plans for another anthology, after "Beginnings"? |

There is supposed to be another Anthology There is supposed to be a book about Alfred Harrington, RMMC There is supposed to be another compendium or 2 (maybe) (House of Shaddows/House of Lies?) IIRC TIM Zahn is contracted for 2 more Manticore Ascendant (Travis Long) books. IIRC "A New Clan" is the first of 3 new Contracted Stephanie Harrington books. There are supposed to be more mainline books - but no contracts have been mentioned. Honor will no longer be a main Point of View character in the series going forward. We have not received an update in well over 6 months. No timelines on any of the above (expect A New Clan) Someone back me up if I missed/misremembered something. ******
RFC said "refitting a Beowulfan SD to Manticoran standards would be just as difficult as refitting a standard SLN SD to those standards. In other words, it would be cheaper and faster to build new ships." |

It has been mentioned in previous questions about any follow up to House of Steel, that the book took a tremendous amount of work by the support team (BuNine) without that much reward; so there was pessimism over the possibility of another like it any time soon.

About that sequel. I think the title TEiF is itself a hint that Darius will be found.
The End. Will end. In fire. I don't think fire happened in this book. And, it was not the end. In a way, I think it is an omen of how Darius will have to be dealt with. Huh? Which book did you read? There was a major battle that destroyed the entire infrastructure of a system, plus a last act of defiance from the defenders. I call that fire. |

True on both accounts, but I don't call that fire. I call that business as usual. Infrastructure has been destroyed throughout the books. I'd say the attack on Sol was closer to fire than Galton. But you may be right, I have only my nightmares to back me up. At any rate, it was not The End, of the Mesan Alignment. Was it even the beginning of The End? Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

The Battle of Sol was a walk in the park compared to the Battle of Galton. The GF was never in any danger during the entire "battle" of Sol. In fact, only accidental deaths happened during that battle, when some of the missiles fired at Reserve One near Naval Station Ganymede failed to attack their intended targets and struck something else. Some four hundred SDs and their escorts were struck from the SLN ship roster, and the single biggest military-industrial complex in the Galaxy became space dust, but at most a couple thousand people died. At Galton, the GF suffered losses, more than 10 capital ships. It also caused far more death on the defenders, even if you don't count the self-destructions of the three stations. The battles of Beowulf and Hypatia were also bigger losses of personnel for the SLN. Heck, the Battle of Saltash caused comparable losses of personnel and the GA only had 5 destroyers in that battle. No, if there's an adjective for that battle, it's not "fiery." It's "humiliating." The SLN started with 400+ superdreadnoughts and not a single missile hit a target! Star Wars' Imperial Stormtroppers would be ashamed of that performance. [/quote] Good question. |

Most of the losses were 'wow, I haven't killed enough RMN ships, but I don't feel like rewriting the battle, so I'll have something the fleet can handle with ease blow a bunch of ships up and nobody will notice' kind of losses. |

You said it. The single biggest industrial complex in the Galaxy became space dust. Along with a monstrous reserve. That is what I call ending in fire. Regardless of how many lives were lost. As a matter of fact, would someone help me to recall the system and the name of the poor commander who had to scuttle his own ships and infrastructure when the Peeps came acallin to prevent the base from falling into enemy hands? Although that, may be called ending in fire, it was also just business as usual. Son, your mother says I have to hang you. Personally I don't think this is a capital offense. But if I don't hang you, she's gonna hang me and frankly, I'm not the one in trouble. —cthia's father. Incident in ? Axiom of Common Sense |

The book's title probably came from a Tolkien-inspired quote: "We kill the dragon. If this is to end in fire, then we will all burn together!"
It's almost certainly a reference to Adebayo's final act - and her final words were another literary reference regarding vengeance as her last missiles tried to kill Honor Harrington, who has occasionally been nicknamed the Salamander. That's pretty much a dragon, isn't it? |
