My greatest fear and I may be correct with this, is that no matter how much fun something is to do, there reaches a point in time and space where the fun is no longer so ... it becomes work.
Then at some point in time, what you used to love that has become work becomes real hard work. Something that at times you really do not want to get up in the morning for... for many reasons. I hope RFC has not yet reached the first point. But ... how many millions of words does it take and how much time and effort is required before fun becomes work? And work becomes the dregs? Just me. If you are a professional writer and you don't treat your writing like a job you are fooling yourself that you are a professional.
Once you have taken money in exchange for producing something on a schedule it's work. Nobody other than your friends really cares if you have fun or not, they care that you provide sufficient value for them to justify paying you. |

while I agree that as soon as a writer takes money its a job, i know lots of us grow bored with jobs becuase there is no fun/pleasure ion it anymore.
a lot of writers write because they have to, they'd go crazy if they didn't but a novel like what RFC put out is a huge amount of work and I can see how after a while it would start to drag you down. |

You're entirely correct here, Dauntless. Once my brain has triggered a story, I literally have to write it down in order to get it out of my head. Fortunately, my publisher seems to think they're pretty good stories. Tony
