People have been wondering why the Pentagon is pushing acquisition of new F-15s.
My theory has been that the Mach-3 capable F-15 is an excellent platform to launch hypersonic weapons.

The F-15 also has the payload to haul around a laser weapon pod. You think may be the F-15X specifications might include more powerful generators integrated into the engines?
