Fully agree, never said we were perfect. The high return for the NT is mainly due to a high percentage of disadvantaged indigenous people. Nothing to do with their genetic heritage, everything to do with low socioeconomic and low esteem factors, brought on by centuries of racism. Originally institutionalised, they were paid much less, couldn't vote or buy alcohol, even had to get permission to move home.
Our national shame that will take generations to correct.

These are 5 year victization stats from. http://www.abs.gov.au/AUSSTATS/abs@.nsf ... enDocument

My apologies but you have to go to downloads and select the xls link. Won't work on phones.

But looking at table 5 second sheet. 45100DO002_2014 Recorded Crime - Victims, Australia, 2014

Also I am assuming Victimization rate is the same as what I have been talking about.

2010-2014 average

New South Wales 0.7
Victoria 1.0
Queensland 1.0
South Australia 1.2
Western Australia 1.2
Tasmania 1.4
Northern Territory 5.6
Australia Capital Territory 0.3

Mostly even but a huge outlier even in a 5 year average.

So I will break that out.
Morthern territory
2010 4.8
2011 3.5
2012 8.9
2013 7.0
2014 3.7

Guess it wasn't a single incident.

Though I wish we could get our capitol district that low. I think they are equivalent.

Yeah not worth much, a factoid, <shrug>

I read in a facebook post that a national gun register is illegal in the US.
Why?

That's the first step in taking away the guns.

1} Register the weapons
2} It's easy to seize them later

Yes, that's what left wants to do.

Which is the exact same excuse the NRA uses for opposing *any* proposed common sense gun regulation. That it's the slippery slope to disarming every American.

Now excuse us, we're about due for our regularly scheduled school shooting somewhere in the US...

That basically echoes what I found.

Yay guns.

I thought there might actually a historical precedent or something. Something interesting.

Something more than just yay guns.

If you exclude crimes committed in a dozen major cities including Detroit, Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Boston, Baltimore, and Trenton, the US has one of the lowest murder rates in the free world. Funny thing - all of those cities have been run for decades by anti-gun Democrats, their "common sense gun laws" are in full force, it is nearly impossible to legally own a gun in any of them, and they lead the nation in violent crime.

On the other hand, after Dade County in Florida issued over 200,000 concealed carry permits, violent crime in the area decreased by more than 40%. It couldn't be because the crooks were worried about something, could it?

My personal guns have been in a national register for decades. Still here & not been "seized" yet.

My "yea!", was just a mischievous impulse, just a gentle tease of some of the ideologues here.

Yeah... Guns registered here for better part of a century and still no seizing.

How shocking!

Oh right, and in the last 120 years, we´ve had the "left" in charge for about 75-80 years or so.

Still no gun seizing mania.

NRA or loonies? No noticeable difference.

When the left has said that I do not want any guns in America, the right tends to fight any type of new regulations. It's really hard to have any compromise or changes in the law when one side is bound and determined to take the right away.
