Moving to Kav, he doesn't seem to be doing a good job in the Senate Hearings. A Judge needs to be able to control their emotions or at least know how to prevent said emotions from interfering with rational thought. Kav seems overly emotional and confrontational as seen from this side of the pond.
He doesn't look like he's a good prospect for the Supreme Court, at least from here, although I do admit that my English Cultural Heritage may be biasing me somewhat.

Don't let history repeat itself, as I for one enjoy your commentary. Daryl, I have experienced the same action by several of regular forum posters so their are some malicious trolls here. This is not disrespecting anyone just stating what has occurred. Just pointing out both sides of issue. I am not trying to get into a flame war or he/she said type situation. The rat(s) know who he/she/or they are and should be personally ashamed of themselves.

Now, let's turn this topic back to SCOTUS nomination. Election day is less than a month and the Demoncrats did not realize how they have truly pissed off the middle of America because the Demoncrats have played strictly to their base within both coasts. The problem is now many Republicans will turn out to vote in November and many Independents are ticked as well. Not smart to energize the base of the opposition party and the Independents.

Kavanaugh will be appointed as a SCOTUS. The Demoncrats have seriously miscalculated with this tactic of resist Trump at every turn. This battle, the Demoncrats may have won but will probably cost them the War. The war for the House of Representatives I believe the Republicans will keep their Majority despite their own idiocy. The bigger problem for the Demoncrats that the Republicans could hold 60 seats with the Senate. A month from now will determine the fate of this pointless war for the SCOTUS nomination.

Not sure why you think 60 seats matter for scotus nominations. McConnell turned the nominations into a simple majority sort of affair for just this reason; it's so much easier to get a partisan agenda established when you don't have to seek any consensus on matters like these.

Smr, I'm from a similar (but different in some ways) culture and here is my take on this.
The whole idea of appointing partisan judges just wouldn't be acceptable in many places, but that's your system so home rules apply.
I agree that few people could sustain a full examination of all their activities while being a student over 30 years ago, and thus the whole Democrat attack is unfair.
However if Kavanaugh had just said right at the start, "That was over thirty years ago, like many students I drank too much at times, and I was a bit gormless with women. If I made anyone uncomfortable making a clumsy pass, I now apologise", then people would have said fair enough.
However the current day mature Kavanaugh showed very poor judgement trying to deny that he even drank in those days, or could have been a drunken leech like most young men of that age. As more and more classmates come out pointing out his lies, it becomes more and more apparent that he is not of good character. Mind you looking at your President it does appear that is not a problem for some supporters.

Kavanaugh openly declaring that he sees himself as a victim of a conspiracy would normally be disqualifying enough.

Also, this is your reminder that the only reason Kavanaugh is being pushed through this process as hard as he is is because there's a case coming up in the SCOTUS docket that could influence the legality of abortions in the US. Everything about this process, going as far back as McConnell deciding that Obama shouldn't nominate a judge because his remaining time in office is limited, is so blatantly partisan that it hurts.

But what can you expect from a party like the GOP, which can't win elections unless it gets to decide who the electorate is....
