Here's some idea of gun control in the Twentieth Century:

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated
------------------------------
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

Before you go off on rants check your facts.

1. Despite what many politicians claim, voter fraud is a very rare thing.

2. He did not tell the IRS what to do, it was the people working for the IRS (several of whom worked for the IRS under Bush) in a local office who did that.

3. He is right that he does not need that vote, the precedent for that is EVERY conflict the US has been involved in since WW2 (the last time congress declared war).

If you have a problem with Obama's decisions then absolutely voice them, all I'm asking is that have your facts straight before you bloviate.

pokermind wrote:Polls show that majority of Americans don't want us in Syria, the vote to give president the authority (Obama noted he dose not need it) in face of warnings from Iran, Russia, and China, to take sides is on the twelfth anniversary of Al Quada's 9/11/2001 attack.

I voted against Obama twice and, one wonders how many cemitaries, illegal aliens, ect. voted from him in the best Chicago tradition. His use of the IRS to attack conservative groups makes Nixon look like a boy scout!

There got the rant off my chest ;)

We'll have to agree to disagree on the facts about the current Administration. IMO either the IRS agents who testified before congress under oath lied or, the President of the United States and his minions not under oath lied that orders came from above. I thought Clinton & Nixon were a scumbags but, our current President makes them look like a choirboys IMHO.

What about Bush? What about Regan?

Both of them made decisions that have had lasting negative effects on this country (Iraq for Bush, Voodoo economics for Regan).

Neither ordered in paramilitary police forces murdering people at Wako or Ruby Ridge like Clinton. Like radical Islam? Guess who Jimmy Carter abandoned the Shah like Obama abandoned Mubarak.

Nope, Bush just caused hundreds of thousands of people to be maimed, wounded, and killed. And Regan just set up the US (and world) for the worse economy since the Great Depression.

Bush did not order the murder of American citizens at home, Clinton sure as hell did.

And I suppose Barney Franks pressure on banks to give loans to people who could never pay them back had nothing to do with the banking collapse that led to the bailouts?

Actually, Reagan's economic reforms followed by Bush 41's successful war to keep oil cheap and plentiful set the nation and the world for the massive economic expansion of the 1990s. Bush 43 managed to keep the economy from imploding after 9-11 and relatively prosperous until the mortgage crisis.

Perhaps you are confusing Ronald Reagan with a young poverty pimp, excuse me "community organizer", from Chicago who was giving training seminars on how to extort Trillions of dollars in NINJA loans from the banks?

You're right Bush did not order the murder of American citizens at home. Neither did Clinton, he ordered law enforcement agencies to deal with a very difficult situation in which he (along with the Attorney General) thought children were being sexually abused. Bush's orders only caused the wounding, maiming, and deaths of hundreds of thousands of people including Americans, not to mention specifically authorizing torture.

I didn't say Regan bears sole responsibility for the financial collapse. But it was his actions that made Barney Franks' pressure on banks even possible.

You may not like Clinton or Obama but their actions have not cause any where near the death and misery that Bush and Regan's did.

Actually I was speaking of bank deregulation and trickle down economics.
