I'm not claiming to be an expert. I'm choosing to trust the FBI, Secret Service, and NYPD. You're making blithe assumptions based on experience of limited applicability.

And the link you posted is for a site that's at least 75% ads which to me indicates that it is not a credible source.

Here's a list of the packages and how they were found:

Barack Obama: Routine mail screening, announced by the Secret Service

Bill and Hillary Clinton: Routine main inspection, Secret Service credited with interception

Eric Holder: Addressed to Eric Holder, sent to the Florida office of Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Maxine Waters: 1 package sent to her Washington office, intercepted at a congressional mail-screening facility; 1 package found in LA post office

John Brennan: a "live explosive device" (quotation marks are on CNN's article too) delivered by courier to CNN offices at the Time Warner Center in NYC. NYPD stated that there was white powder in the package as well.

George Soros: Suspicious package found and appeared to be an explosive device. An unidentified law enforcement source told CNN that it was "rendered safe"

Robert De Niro: Suspicious package found at a nonresidential building in NYC according to NYPD Lt. Thomas Antonetti. Package was addressed to Robert De Niro.

All of the above packages had similar packaging, markings, and had Debbie Wasserman Schultz as the return address.

You really, really are sufferring from cognitive difficulties.

The link was to images returned from Googling "fake bombs". Most of the returns are from sites selling gag gifts and props. The extreme similarity between these toys and the "bombs" sent to these people speaks volumes about the alleged expertise of the perpetrator. The biggest hint that these bombs are fake is two wires going in either end of the pipe. No one who knows diddly squat about explosives would do that. I am not going to explain the physics that dictate against this to you.

Another big hint is the hand written note "postage due" and the fact that the inadequate number of postage stamps were not cancelled. Most of these "bombs" were probably hand delivered rather than sent through the mail. No post office in the country would accept these for mailing even if the person doing the mailing looked like Debbie Wasserman Shultz.

The only way these things could have been sent through the mail is if a postal worker or workers sent them.

Until I get an explicit confirmation from a bomb forensics expert that these pipes were filledwith an actual explosive rather than glass and playdou, I am going to continue to believe that they are fake bombs.

It is becoming somewhat more credible that these packages were sent through the mail. However; my list of primary suspects is limited to employees at the Post Office that they were mailed from.

Big hint that these things are not real explosives is the use of PVC rather than steel pipe. I will once again refrain from explaining the relevant physics and chemistry to you folks.

Thanks for considering the point. USPS has understandably been getting far more discerning about accepting packages for mailing. Packages require return addresses and must be mailed in person. Adequate postage WILL be required to accept the package and the stamps will be cancelled. Normal procedure for packages is to use metered postage, not stamps. A package with a return address for a very well known person is not going to be accepted from a random person unless they can credibly impersonate the person.

The idea of a postal worker being a mad bomber is not outrageous. You ever here of the phrase "going postal.?" Postal workers are renown for workplace shootings. They even have special M1 carbine rifles manufactured for them by the US Postal Meter company!

Of course even if the culprit is a postal worker, they could be a right wing lunitic just as easily as a left wing lunatic. The specific people targeted by such an dramatic but incompetent stunt screams false flag to me. The fake ISIS flag is almost a self parody.

I await more real information before I will seriously accuse anyone and I am not such a bigot that I will exploit the actscommitted by one individual to demonize an entire group.

If it's anything like our postal service it isn't too hard for an outsider to get things into the mail system.


You can make a pipe bomb out of PVC.
Hell, you can make one out of paper.

Wont be as effective of course.

Unless you have access to actual high detonation velocity explosives, you are not going to be able to make a viable bomb out of plastic pipe or cardboard.

A typical pipe bomb made in the US uses common firearms propellent as the "explosive." The deflageration velocity (linear "burning" rate scales non linearly with the pressure applied to the propellent) Unless firearms propellent is contained in a reasonably high strength pressure vessel like a steel pipe, it is going to burn slowly if at all. Old fashioned black powder is one of the more commonly available exceptions to this rule but the licensing for purchase is very restrictive.

The minimally reliable information available suggests that these plastic pipes might have been filled with "pyrotechnic powder" which could be anything from black powder to flash powder used for theatre productions. I would not say the devices are harmless because they could start a fire, but it appears that they are NOT viable explosives.

I stand by my initial assesment that these "bombs" area hoax intended to provoke attention and gain publicity rather than to inflict actual death or injury. Given the very selective targeting and the initial reactions of "MAGABOMBER," it seems far more plausible that the perpetrator was a Democrat rather than a Republican.

As someone that have worked with pyrotechnic powders I know they can remove your limbs as readily as black powder or explosives. The explosives course which is mandatory for handling pyrotechnic powders here had some very graphic demonstrations what these powders can do to bodies (in this case, pig cadavers filled with bags of fake blood).

The most common substance used in pipe-bombs are actually flash powder according to ATF and they are certainly very viable as explosive devices.
