Hi Hutch,

Aren't you confusing this with the Sherman's Lagoon Comic?

Seriously, this is becoming one of my favorite threads.

The comments have been both enlightening and entertaining, and even inspiring.

Kudos to FallsFromTrees, ten points to Gryffindor!

Me? I was swimming, and there was this big hook with a cheeseburger and a book on it, and.....

Seriously, I really don't remember. I hadn't read a lot of SF in the past decade or so, but something got me started on the Ring of Fire and Honorverse about the same time, and I can't remember which one led to the other.

Old age is Hell.

But I'm planning on living to 90 (28 more years) so I may yet see the conclusion to both series.

We shall see..eventually.

I bought OBS all the way back in the dark ages when it first came out in paperback. And while Mssrs. Weber, Baen, and co. haven't got any hardcover sales off of me, they've managed to "earn commission" on about everything else since.

The only thing I haven't enjoyed in the HonorVerse or WeberVerse is.... the gradual and evil insinuation of the dastardly NoTerse, that is, David's folk sure do a lot of talking, and often saying the same thing in long-sections in a lot of places. Not complaining about the overlaps, which David has explained, but I really don't want to know every side of what folks are thinking about in milk-curdling detail.

OBS and the earlier stories were quicker, more enjoyable reads.

All my posts are YMMV, IMHO, and welcoming polite discussion, extension, and rebuttal. This is the HonorVerse, after all

My mom gave loaned me her copy of On Basilisk Station, while I was in college. Been reading them ever since, including new ones since War came out.

Echoes of Honor, for me.

I was browsing in my local bookshop; it was and still is a big shop; I was looking for something new and spotted some David Weber and it sounded fun.

I like a strong female lead, they seem to be handled better, but maybe the writers just do a better job. Anyway, I was hooked.

And am impatient for my next fix.

I started reading David Weber books as I had found David Drakes books were mostly free on the amazon kindle store, then I saw in the suggested books for the book Redliners On Basilik Station and as I had read the Harry Potter books a depressing number of times I was expecting something similar set in space ( I read them enough to know that Chamber of Secrets was set in 1992 and that I want to be in london on July 31st 2015 for the epilogue) but I read On Basilik Station twice and then went to the library to find that the next book that they had was Storm from the Shadows and read it, I then spent a while wondering what an SD(P) was and where were Honor and McKeon until I finally found the intermediate books.
