Given that Trump, during his election, made what he later claimed was a joke about how rifle-owning Americans should try to assassinate Clinton, does anyone else find this rather darkly ironic?

The most serious injury isn't the entry wound to the hip but the internal organ damage. There is reportedly more surgery scheduled today.
The shooter may have been a bad shot but the capitol police aren't. |

Since the election there has been a steady stream of Democratic and/or leftist calls for (or "art") the assassination of Donald Trump. This deranged lunatic took them up on it. More frequently assassination in hinted at or implied. |

Pretty standard fare for that play actually. There's a strong tendency to make Caesar whatever world leader is in the news.

Not to mention half the point of the play was that assassinating Caesar was a bloody stupid thing to do. The end result of that little ploy was essentially the worst case scenario as far as the conspirators were concerned. |
