I was reading Honorverse for the last ten years and always wanted to know, is there any reference to Tarkus? No, really? Did Manticore defeat any fictional fleet of Adm. Tarkus, or anything?
Do you have any other intriguing references which should be there, but we missed them? |

Check out this thread by someone who had the same idea: Cultural References How unusual that you asked exactly the same question as whoever created that thread. |

Since that 30-month old identical thread didn't definitively answer the specific question -- it's no.
A word search through the entire text of all the books to date found no occurrences of "Tarkus". |

I should have added an emoji to be clear I was joking... Admiral, later Grand Moff, Tarkin is highly unlikely to put an appearance in the Honorverse. |

One is a future history. The other is in a galaxy far far away.

An intriguing reference for me is the Peep's Hades. It is no secret that I am a Christian (as well as the author). So, any references to a Hades or Hell I find most intriguing. Although the plot could never quite settle on whether Hades was Hell before Honor arrived, or whether it became Hell after that witch and her demon set foot on it. If you ask Harry Styles I am sure it is the latter. If you could ask the Peeps that she destroyed with one arm tied behind her back while coasting on a gurney without them getting off a single shot, I’d wager they'd also choose the latter. (Tied behind her back or completely gone is all the same to me.)
It all goes back to my post in the humor thread which says it must be Hell being a beta tester. And going up against Honor makes one exactly that; a beta tester. Only one man defeated her because he had found a flaw in the beta release when he first encountered the software, which had been debugged by her next release into the wild. In fact, in Tourville's next encounter with the soft ware, it had become quite hard... to defeat. ![]() If we travel to the Trek World my brain gets warped and fixates on Betazoids, who hail from the planet Betazed. And Betazoids are looser with their sexuality than even Beowulfans and Allison Harrington. ![]() I've been trying for years to get an invitation to a Betazoid wedding ever since I met Counselor Troi's mother, but, well, she has super powers similar to, but ten times more magnified than Honor's. And, well, alas, she can sense the hardness behind my excitement. Hence, no invite, but a warm smile nonetheless at my discomfort. Similar to Honor's poor armsman when she stepped out of the pool "pretty much naked" and dripping wet. .
